DiaStar™ Licensing
There are three types of DiaStar licenses.
- Base Licenses (required) - These licenses enable support for the different interfaces used by DiaStar and also the core gateway functionality of DiaStar.
- Module Licenses (optional) - These licenses enable additional functionality and are applied on top of the base licenses.
- Signaling Licenses (optional) - DiaStar supports both Dialogic SS7 DSI signaling boards and signaling software.
DiaStar Base Licenses
There are two DiaStar "Base Licenses" both of which are applied on a per port basis. Both types of base licenses can be combined on a single system if required.
DiaStar Base TDM License
The "DiaStar Base TDM License" is free of charge.
This enables the use of Dialogic DNI cards in DiaStar server. DNI cards provide T1/E1 ISDN and CAS interfaces and can also provides voice bearer channels for Dialogic SIGTRAN and SS7 signaling interfaces.
DTMF tone detection/generation and media streaming to DiaStar clients are also enabled by this license.
Compatible Modules
The Tone Detection module, which enables Call Progress Analysis on outbound calls and user-defined tone detection, can be used with the DiaStar Base TDM License.
DiaStar Base SIP License
This enables the SIP interface on the DiaStar server.
DTMF tone detection/generation and media streaming to DiaStar clients are also enabled by this license.
Compatible Modules
The Advanced Video, Video Conferencing and Tone Detection modules can be used with the DiaStar Base SIP License.
DiaStar Module Licenses
Module licenses are applied on top of the DiaStar Base Licenses on a per port basis and must match the number of ports on the base license.

Trial License
A fully featured trial license is available that allow you to evaluate the latest DiaStar Server release.
The license is valid for 45 days and provide four ports of the following DiaStar licenses:
- Base SIP License (G02-050-01)
- Tone Detection Module License (G03-050-01)
- Advanced Video Module License (G04-050-01)
- Video Conferencing Module License (G05-050-01)
To obtain DiaStar Server Trial License, fill in the request form and a license will be sent to you via email.

DiaStar SS7 Signaling Licenses
Trial development licenses are included on the ISO installation CD.

DiaStar Server with DNI cards
For DiaStar servers that contain a hardware DNI card then the license must be applied against the DNI card serial number. Serial numbers start with "NB" and are found on the box the board comes in and on the board itself and must be provided when requesting the license.
DiaStar Server without DNI cards
For DiaStar servers that contain no DNI cards the license is tied to the MAC (hardware) address of the Ethernet network interface eth0. The MAC address for eth0 can be found using the command
# /sbin/ifconfig
The MAC address is the value shown after the text HWaddr. For example:
